This Jeanie has been fully restored and redressed.  Her cloth body has extensive repairs, but is clean, mended and intact.

She has been redressed in a pink cotton organdy dress with pink and white antique hand tatting trim.  She has voile bloomers and underslip.  On her feet she is wearing antique rayon socks and "oilcloth" reproduction shoes with grossgrain ribbon ties.

Her sleep eyes open and close.  She has a crier that works intermittantly.

My Approach to Composition Restoration/Repair:

When restoring or repairing these 80-100-year-old dolls great care is put into replicating their features to a "from the factory" state. These old dolls just do not survive the test of time very well. Restoration/repair is often needed. Composition dolls have a lot of factory imperfections in their finish that other materials do not have, these imperfections are simply part of the charm of composition.

I only do what the doll needs and leave as much of the original paint and finish as possible. There are no missing fingers or toes. The eyes and facial features are all present and neatly painted. I use paints which are remarkably like the ones used by the factory. I try to send them out redressed in an outfit that uses materials true to the era. I strive to use only cotton, rayon, and silk. I avoid polyester fabric and lace whenever possible. This is truly a labor of love; I am simply restoring and/or repairing these babies for generations to come.

  • Me: I grew up playing with my grandmother's Baby Beautiful. I developed and interest in doll restoration when I sent my beloved Baby Beautiful “Betty Lou” to have a full restoration. The results were stunning, and I was overjoyed. I was looking for the factory original attire for a Baby Beautiful on eBay and noticed all the dumpster dollies out there and felt the need to save them. I found a class within driving distance of my home and have been saving these little darlings one doll at a time. I quickly decided to specialize in composition dolls, and I have been working on composition dolls for 8 years. These dolls are restored/repaired in a smoke-free home. I do have dogs and a cat, but they are not allowed into the doll studio.

SHIPPING AND HANDLING

  • I ship on Tuesday and Fridays. Items paid for after 10 am PST Fridays ship the following Tuesday. Any handling fees are strictly to cover the cost of insurance. Your doll will be very well packed. All my item’s ship insured. I get a lot of messages regarding shipping costs. Please know that I enter the package dimensions and weight and USPS calculates the cost, I know sometimes the shipping is cost prohibitive and believe me, that is a disappointment and frustration for me as a seller too. I make NOTHING on shipping. Thanks!
